The CAD Books Page provides information about CAD training materials by Len Nasman.

I have been publishing books to teach people how to use CAD (Computer Aided Design) software since 1990 with the publication of a manual to accompany the CADKEY Videos instructional video tapes. The first books were made by cutting and pasting graphics and text to create master pages to serve as camera-ready copy for printing presses. The first desktop publishing software used was Professional Page, which ran on Amiga computers. This was a considerable improvement since cutting and pasting could be done electronically rather than with scissors and tape. The book development process was really streamlined with the Advent of Frame Maker. This program allows me to develop a 500 page text, including covers and table of contents, export it as one large PDF file, save it on a CD, and send it out for printing. The print shop can insert the CD into a machine and get completed books directly from the files I supply.
CADKEY:
CADKEY for a long time was the
most cost effective microcomputer based software for creating true three
dimensional data bases for design mechanical parts. CADKEY has been used for
creating aircraft designs at Boeing, automobile parts by a variety of companies
servicing the automobile manufactures, for ships such as the famous CAT line
(built in Australia and currently ferrying people and vehicles from Maine to
Nova Scotia), and hundreds of companies designing mechanical products. I have
produced editions of CADKEY instruction books from Beginning CADKEY Light
in 1991, Beginning CADKEY 6 in 1992, and continuing with every
release of CADKEY through CADKEY 19 in 2001.
In addition to the CADKEY text books, I created a school curriculum called CadLab based on the CADKEY software. This curriculum provides industrial technology instructors with the ability to introduce CAD to students in a quick and efficient manner. Tens of thousands of industrial technology students across the country have received their first introduction to CAD through my materials.
MasterCAM: MasterCAM is a program used to generate tool paths for controlling milling machines and lathes. It has long been one of the most popular CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) programs. A workbook to teach users how to create mechanical drawings with MasterCAM was written by me in 1992 and was distributed exclusively by a MasterCAM dealer.
DataCAD:
DataCAD is a program for
designing commercial and residential buildings. It is widely used by architects
in the United States and in a number of other countries. My DataCAD line of
books started with Beginning DataCAD in 1991 and continued for all
releases of DataCAD to The DataCAD 10 Project Book in 2001. At the
release of DataCAD version 11, I retired from writing new DataCAD books and
worked with a co-author who continues the series.
Chief Architect:
Chief Architect is a
program used to prepare floor plans and three dimensional rendered views of
residential structures. I have written books for versions 9, 9.5, and 10 of
Chief Architect.
Current editions of my CAD books are available through Tech Ed Concepts located in Concord, New Hampshire.
